This world needs change

I’m not sure what else to call this blog post other than ” this world needs change”…

It saddens me to see how negative people have become and I wish I could ignore it and move on with my life but I really can’t!

Every time I close my eyes, I think of the problems people are facing in this world.  Every time, I pass by the park that is near my university campus, I see homeless people and it’s heartbreaking, especially since winter has arrived. The refugee crisis, the political debates about Muslims, African Americans, Mexicans, etc…Since when do humans own this world? We were born into it, but we never created it, so why do we think we own it?

Just like we were born into this world, we will die one day and we won’t take anything else with us but ourselves and we are only leaving behind our memories, be it good or bad. We are not humans if we don’t want for others what we want for ourselves and that’s what I learned as a Muslim. Making another person smile, taking their stress away, feeding a homeless person, helping someone by even just listening to them, even if that is all I can do. These are the things that bring peace and happiness to my heart. How does my identity makes me a threat to someone else’s life?  Since when someone’s actions speak for the whole race, ethnicity or religion? We were taught in school to never judge a book by its cover, we were taught to embrace our individuality and yet today we are told otherwise by the media.

The country that I called home, never felt like home. I want and wish the best for others, but I question whether that’s something others want for me. Do they judge me by how I dress, by my ethnicity, by my religion, by my actions or by somebody else’s actions?  I don’t fear for my life but I do fear for the future and humanity of this world. I fear for the future of our children…

I urge everyone to stop listening to the propaganda on TV, stop reading the messed up articles and things people write without having any knowledge. Let’s put aside all the hate and live to care for one another, live to make a positive change in someone else’s life despite their race, religion, ethnicity, etc. What happened to ” if you got nothing nice to say then don’t say anything”? I’ll leave it at that.

  1. I am also commenting to make you understand of the fabulous encounter my wife’s child experienced going through your blog. She came to understand too many issues, not to mention what it’s like to possess an amazing teaching nature to let the others with no trouble know precisely specific impossible subject areas. You really did more than my expected results. I appreciate you for imparting the important, healthy, edifying as well as cool guidance on the topic to Gloria.

  2. Hey! Someone in my Facebook group shared this website with us so I came to give it a look. I’m definitely enjoying the information. I’m book-marking and will be tweeting this to my followers! Great blog and superb design and style.

  3. Know that you are not alone in your feelings. I’m 67 and the world has changed so radically since I was young that I hardly recognize it. To you, Heba, I quote the Buddhists, when I sincerely say, “Namaste” ❤
